Jack Jarvis - Rower
A resourceful, adaptive and tenacious individual who after joining the British army at 16 years old immediately volunteered for the All Arms Commando course. On successful completion, he spent the next 7 years of his career within 59 Commando Squadron, giving him a wealth of experience in risk management and operating in high stress situations.
After winning the British Army indoor rowing league in 2019, it has been his ambition to push his competitive rowing to the next level.
Hobbies include rowing, making cheesecakes and taking pictures with his top off.
Duncan Roy - Coach
Duncan’s is one of the most respected, professional and well recognised Ocean Rowing coaches in the world. As a proud Yorkshireman and former Royal Engineer in the British Army, he has rowed the Atlantic twice, around 80% of the UK earlier this year and is gearing up to row in the Great Pacific Race 2021. As a qualified RYA Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster Offshore and British Rowing Indoor Rowing Coach, Duncan’s is a multiple World Record holder at sea and on a Concept2 Indoor Rower. One of the finest men in the ocean rowing community, we are delighted to have ‘Coach’ onboard.
Duncan’s hobbies include, mountain biking, talking about Yorkshire and sinking rum & cokes.
Chris Martin - Planning and Weather Routing
Chris is a world-record-setting adventurer and former international rower who won 6 medals at consecutive World Championships.
He was the 30th person to row the Atlantic solo, and 4 years later was the first to row the North Pacific as a pair taking 189 days non-stop to row between Japan and San Francisco.
He co-founded the Association of Ocean Rowers to connect those wanting to row an ocean with those who had to provide support and guidance.
He now sits on the board of the Ocean Rowing Society who adjudicates for Guinness World Records in the sport.
He is the founder of the Great Pacific Race and has overseen 4 editions of the event. In the last 16 years he has helped provide both remote and hands-on assistance to more than 135 ocean rowers from all over the world, to prepare them for, and support them during, their voyages.
Sam Wright - PR Lead
With over 8 years’ experience, Sam is a consumer public relations specialist and the primary contact for any United We Conquer media enquiries. PR Manager at Nifty Communications in Worcestershire, Sam works alongside a team of talented marketeers with an ever-growing client portfolio.
Sam is a huge sports fan and when he isn’t in the office or out and about with clients, you will most likely find him having a great time with family and friends, at the gym/pub or St Andrews stadium in Birmingham.
